CULTIVATING SENSORY AWARENESS TO BETTER HEALTH
with Daphne Chua
Explore a long weekend of various themed workshops with movement & bodywork therapist Daphne Chua, in the embodied expression of our body-mind through movement & creative inquiries.
Somatic education is an exploration into waking up the internal senses to uncover our own physical and subtle mind-body mapping, to help us determine the way we inhabit in our environment and respond to elements and people around us. The practice also shines a light on our habitual but unconscious neurological patterning that manifest into how we breathe, our holding gait, and reactivity to circumstances. These are manifested through pre-disposition, deep-seated patterns, and years of conditioning.
Bringing together mindfulness with somatic tools, we can gain more clarity into our own feelings and behaviour as an embodied biological process in order to live with greater ease and grace.
FRIDAY, 16 NOV
Session 1 - 17:00-19:00
Yielding into Gravity: A Restorative Practice for Systems Balancing
A sweet lunar session to tap into the lunar (Yin) aspect of the energy body. We will explore a more subtle practice of slowing down by tapping into gravity’s support to move from our parasympathetic nervous system. Working with visualisations, movement and breath, we will move gently through dynamic and long holds to bring our body-mind into restore and renew.
SATURDAY, 17 NOV

Somatic Movement & Creative Journaling

Explore the intricacies of how we inhabit in our micro and macrocosm through creative sense writing, inviting the quieter, more subtle parts of ourselves to come into light.

SUNDAY, 18 NOV
Session 5 - 09:30-11:30
Somatic Movement & Myofascial Release
In this session, you will be guided through breathwork and interoception to explore the qualities of our connective tissue - the intricate matrix of our body-mind. Moving through inquiries and visualisations, we will uncover and unravel through the differnt myofascial planes and embody the qualities of these energy pathways.
Session 6 - 13:30-15:30
Journey into Our Organs through Sound and Movement
Our internal organs provide the internal support for our body. Governed by the water element, our organs are also our emotional centres for creative expressions. Revel in the inner dance of the organs through an intimate exploration into our relationship with this buoyant and fluid support system through the work of sound, movement and visualisations.
Session 7 - 16:00-18:00
Somatic Therapy for a Healthy Pelvic Floor
Our pelvic floor is the seat of our vitality, sensuality and sexuality. Embryologically, our limbs begin from the pelvis to form our foundational relationship with the gravity. Our pelvic floor also supports of all our internal organs! Energetically, it is the vessel and wellspring in which all our relationships with self and others draw upon. The health of our pelvic floor determines our health and well-being. Our pelvic floor needs to be both strong and flexible to support breath, gait, digestion, and even spinal health. This foundational workshop will offer anatomical, functional, and embodied perspectives we have with our pelvic floor through movement and breath.
